It’s been a busy off-season here at HoliMont. When you come visit this winter you’ll see some noticeable changes (a warming hut at the top of Greer, a revamped Meadow chairlift, two renovated bathrooms in the Chalet, construction over at the WestMont Ridge site) and then there will be things that took place, like replacing in-ground water and air lines, which you will never even know happened but rest assured they did and as a result our initial snowmaking period has been very successful.
Right now it looks like HoliMont will begin its 51st season of operation this Saturday, December 14th. Considering that last season we were not able to open until December 25th, we are thrilled about opening this early as it gives us more time to make sure that everything is running as smoothly as possible for the upcoming Christmas holiday week.
This weekend HoliMont will be open to its Members and their invited guests. After that we will open up the slopes to non-members December 16th – 20th. Following the weekend of the 21st we will be open to non-members December 23rd and 24th. On Christmas Day HoliMont will be Members and their guests only (Christmas Day will be a half day. Lifts will run from 12pm to 4pm). HoliMont will continue to be Members and guests throughout the remainder of the Christmas week, which ends on December 31st.
The plan for opening day is to have two lifts, Exhibition Express and Cascade, running with approximately seven slopes open. There could be more slopes depending on how snowmaking goes this week. Adult lift tickets will be $46 and junior lift tickets will be $32. Come Monday, when HoliMont opens up to non-members, the adult ticket price will be $43 and the junior ticket price will be $30.
HoliMont has had some very solid days (and nights) of snowmaking so far this winter. Even our recent warm spell last week allowed for us to pump even more water for snowmaking, thus turning a negative into a positive in the grand scheme of things.
As the temperatures continue to drop and as the weather forecasts of lake effect snow inundate the local television airwaves, the excitement level around HoliMont always increases substantially. The level of anticipation for the upcoming season starts to feel real as soon as the Mountain Crew fires up the first snow guns of the season and this year when the guns started turning water into pristine man-made snow it signaled that the new season was indeed a reality and that sooner than later, people would be flocking to the slopes to enjoy their days of skiing and snowboarding bliss.
Whether you are a HoliMont Member, a friend of a Member who purchases tickets on the weekend, or one of our weekday skiers; we here are HoliMont are looking forward to seeing you enjoy your time out on the slopes. Each and every season we look forward to building on what we accomplished the year prior and our goal is to go above and beyond in order to make the HoliMont experience something that you want to make a part of your winter lifestyle.
